Sharad Vivek Sagar from Bihar has recently been distinguished as the “2024 Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum (WEF). This accolade positions him as the youngest recipient from India and the first ever from Bihar, signifying his prominent influence on a global scale. Sagar is scheduled to attend the upcoming Welcome Retreat at the WEF Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 6 to 8, 2024, where he will engage with other global leaders. Since 1992, the Forum has recognized leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and other notable figures, including Nobel laureates and Fortune 500 CEOs. At just 16, Sagar founded Dexterity Global, a platform dedicated to nurturing young leaders. Through this initiative, individuals have received over Rs 175 crore in scholarships from prestigious universities worldwide, have represented India as youth ambassadors at the UN, and have garnered more than 1, 000 national and international awards. His early ventures into leadership training have made a significant impact on youth empowerment and education. Sagar’s accomplishments extend beyond borders. In 2016, he was the only Indian invited by then-U.S. President Barack Obama to a special gathering of young leaders at the White House. That same year, he attended the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony, invited by the Nobel Peace Center. His global recognition continued as he was named in the global Forbes 30 Under 30 list, a rare honor for someone from Bihar. In 2021, Sagar’s academic and leadership prowess led him to be elected as the first Indian President of the Student Government at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, marking another significant milestone in his career. This role has allowed him to influence educational policy and practice at an elite level. Sagar’s recognition as a Young Global Leader affirms his role in a cadre of influential figures that includes prime ministers, presidents, Nobel laureates, and Fortune 500 leaders. His leadership and vision exemplify the potential of young individuals to impact global governance and innovation.
