Born and brought up in the tranquil hills of Shillong, Suman Chakraborty, was groomed at RKM Narendrapur in his early years where his artistic work nurtured and was immediately recognized by his peers. He graduated in Architecture from Sir JJ College in Mumbai and is currently settled in British Columbia, Canada. After graduating, he has worked on world class architectural projects in India, Singapore, Bahrain, Oman, UK and Canada. He got so focused on his career that only during Covid when work slowed down, he picked up his art to amaze all around him with ultra realistic art after a gap of 35 years. He won a art contest in Canada and was recognized for artistic achievement by Luxembourg Art Museum in 2020. The present work is a result of the artist and the architect within him. As details are the very source of expression in Architecture. Such details of a jharoka window in the state of Rajasthan are picked up with polycromos colour pencils in 6x8” strathmore paper. In his words ‘I often get asked about the progress steps on my artwork! I don’t always record all my work but… Here they are!’ One of the admirer feels that Jharokha-the window- is meant to draw light and breeze, but it also offers splendid view to the spectator.
