Sri Prestone Tynsong, Meghalaya's Deputy Chief Minister, released "MEI," a thought-provoking book written by Sri Raphael Warjri, at a ceremony held at the Lariti International Cultural and Performing Arts Centre in Shillong. The book provides new insights into the Khasi matrilineal system by examining the creation of new clans and their impact on the existing social structure.
"MEI", produced by Riti Academy in collaboration with INTACH Meghalaya, is a thoroughly researched publication that digs into the complexities of the Khasi matrilineal system, throwing new light on this unique facet of Khasi culture. Warjri hopes that his work will rekindle interest in the subject and promote future investigation.
Deputy Chief Minister Tynsong welcomed the author's efforts, saying, "This book makes an important contribution to our understanding of Khasi culture and society." It is crucial that we continue to discover and learn about our heritage."
