RAMAKRISHNA MISSION, SHILLONG COMPLETES 50 GLORIOUS YEARS OF CULTURAL COMPETITIONS WITH THE PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY

The Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, marked a significant milestone with the completion of Silver Jubilee of the Annual Cultural Competitions, a journey that spans five decades of nurturing talent, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Since its inception, the mission has consistently provided a platform for thousands of participants to showcase their skills in various events like Debate, Elocution, Quiz, Drawing, and Painting and  Recitation in languages Khasi,Bengali, Hindi, English and Sanskrit.


Over the years, the Cultural Competitions have evolved into a beloved traditionamong Shillongites and people of Sohra, fostering a sense of community and promoting artistic expression among the children and youth. The mission's unwavering commitment to this endeavor was undetered during covid situation where all the competions were held online has made it an integral part of Meghalaya's cultural landscape. Interestingly the competetion then cherished participation even from Tura and such far flung areas.
With a record participation of 2072 individuals, from across 89 educational institutes, the one and half month long event culminated in the grand prize distribution ceremony. The  was graced by the presence of Honorable Governor of Meghalaya C.J. Vijayshankar Governor. Other digniteries present were  Swami Achyuteshananda, Trustee, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, and Shri Shri Osmand Ewen Jyrwa Nongbri , Managing Director, The Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd Jyrwa, who applauded the mission's dedication to this noble cause.
Honourable Governor felt that such endevours of creativity should be fostered so that the future generation is prepared well
As the Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, looks back on its 50-year journey, it celebrates the countless moments of triumph, growth, and inspiration. The mission remains committed to continuing this legacy, empowering future generations to explore their potential and contribute to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
